Many men and women have been visiting our practice to reduce inches of stubborn fat on their arms, hips, thighs, and abdomen so they can look their best in time for swimsuit season. While liposuction remains a tried-and-true means to spot reduce these troublesome areas, a faster, safer, and non-invasive treatment is abuzz: CoolSculpting®. Here are just a few of the advantages of the procedure:

Coolsculpting before and after patient by Dr. Doezie

Non-invasive

There are no needles or knives involved with CoolSculpting®. The procedure is entirely outpatient and non-surgical, and there is no need for general anesthesia. The CoolSculpting® device is applied to the skin and grips the fatty area between two panels. Without damaging the surrounding skin and tissues, the cooling technology literally freezes the fat cells so that they die. Over the next several weeks, the dead fat cells are naturally metabolized by the body and permanently eliminated.

Fast

Just one treatment with CoolSculpting® will take 35 minutes to complete. If desired, patients can have multiple treatments in the same area, or they can choose to have multiple areas treated the same day. Since there is no downtime, patients can immediately resume their normal activities after the procedure is finished.

Painless

Patients only feel intense cold during the first few minutes of treatment, but it is not painful. The area often feels numb after about five to 10 minutes. After treatment, the area is massaged, and many patients feel tingling, which subsides.

Effective

Most patients will notice a change in as few as three weeks after treatment, and they will experience dramatic results after two months. The treated area will appear firmer and leaner, and you will be able to fit better and look better in clothing as the results continue to take effect. With each treatment, about 25 percent of the fat cells are permanently removed from the area.
